Why Use Passphrases?

Passphrases use multiple random words to create passwords that are both strong and memorable. A 4-word passphrase from a 2048-word list provides approximately 44 bits of entropy — equivalent to a random 8-character password with mixed case, numbers, and symbols.

The advantage is memorability: "correct-horse-battery-staple" is far easier to remember than "X7#mK9!qR". For even greater security, use 5 or 6 words.
